Or, in my case, I just make sure he’s close by to pay for my purchases.
Coral Reef Safe SPF…what?
The first time we heard this phrase, we were on MSC’s private island, Ocean Cay. Being the rule follower that I am, we stopped at the shop on the island before snorkeling to purchase our coral reef friendly SPF.

Now, it’s something we pay attention to every time we’re headed into the ocean.
If you’re choosing sunscreen for swimming or snorkeling, here are a few things to look for:
Choose mineral sunscreen with zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide.
Avoid oxybenzone (benzophenone-3) and octinoxate (octyl methoxycinnamate).
Look for water-resistant SPF 30–50+.
Even better? A rash guard or UPF clothing can help reduce the amount of sunscreen that washes into the water.
Our easy rule: Look for zinc oxide and/or titanium dioxide as the active ingredients, and avoid oxybenzone and octinoxate.
We now only use SPF that is coral reef conscious!
Because protecting the places we love to explore is part of the adventure.
PsiBands for the Win When it Comes to Motion Sickness!

We discovered on our first cruise 11 years ago that one of us gets seasick, while the other usually doesn’t even notice the ship rocking—until sitting by the pool and watching the water move.
Since then, we’ve found a few things that can help:
PsiBands
Ginger chews
Ginger ale
Ginger beer
Green apples
Everyone is different, but these have become our go-to travel companions when we’re cruising!
Invest in a Good Pair of Walking Shoes. Your Feet Will Thank You Later!
Some destinations and itineraries involve a LOT more walking than you might expect. When we did a river cruise in Germany back in August, it was pretty common to have 10,000+ steps in by noon most days!

A fun little side note: We found an amazing little shoe store along the Moselle River in Germany. It reminded us so much of our local, family-owned shoe store back home.
And the best part? They had a massive selection of Rieker shoes! We might have done a little shopping too! Bonus travel tip: save some extra space in your suitcase for purchases!
Before your next trip, make sure your walking shoes are comfortable, broken in, and ready for the adventure. Your feet will thank you!
